hi, there!

I’m Lucy!  I was born and raised in Austin, Texas.  I love margaritas, reading, and my doodle, Ralph.  I attended college at Texas Christian University and received my degree in early childhood education. Go Frogs!  After I graduated, I moved back to Austin and began my career in education.  Over the last ten years, I have taught 1st and 2nd grade in public, private, and charter school settings.  All three schools I taught in were very different, and I learned alot from each experience!

My favorite subjects to teach are reading and writing.  A lot of children tend to think writing is boring.  I love when my students realize you can make writing interesting and funny!  I’m also very passionate about having a positive classroom culture where each student feels safe to be their authentic self.  You want to write every story and poem about fish, because you love fishing?  Fabulous!  We will cheer you on and can’t wait to hear more about halibut!

Another one of my interests is trying to find a more balanced life.  In teaching, that can feel nearly impossible!  Although I occasionally still struggle with “filling my cup first”, I have learned a lot of tips to get me closer to happy hour and further from working after hours.

Do we have anything in common?  Do you have some tips and tricks or a phenomenal margarita recipe?  Send me a message on my CONTACT PAGE.  I would love to hear from you!
